Until 26 October – Palazzo di Città
“Letizia Battaglia. Without End”, curated by Paolo Falcone, promoted by the Municipality of Cagliari with Fondazione di Sardegna, and organised by Electa in collaboration with the Letizia Battaglia Archive and the Falcone Foundation for the Arts.
A tribute to Letizia Battaglia’s unique way of breaking the rules: a wide-ranging selection of photographs that span five decades, presented in a non-chronological and timeless journey through her vision.
Until 16 November – Municipal Art Gallery of Cagliari
“Isole Minori. Notes on Photography from 1990 to the Present”, in collaboration with MAN in Nuoro. Sixteen international photographic projects explore the concept of islands and insularity, both geographically and culturally. Four authors reflect on the link between photography and literature: Arianna Arcara, Karla Hiraldo Voleau, Luca Spano and François-Xavier Gbré.
Until 15 November – Cagliari-Elmas Airport
The sculptures of Ermenegildo Atzori are displayed in dialogue with Pinuccio Sciola’s works already present at the airport. The installation “Men of Stone” tells stories of identity and memory through the expressive power of stone.
Until 31 August – Il Ghetto
“Acrobati”, a solo exhibition by Francesco Alpigiano curated by Chiara Manca. Over thirty years of work through symbolic, multi-material creations, independent of commercial circuits. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–13:00 and 17:00–20:00 (closed 15 August).
Until 14 September – Palazzo Tirso Cagliari - MGallery
“Art Colours the Territory”, works by Dutch painter and engraver René Rijnink, curated by Mirco Renzetti.
Museo Etnografico Regionale Collezione Cocco
“Suspended – Hanging – Nietta Condemi – Free Weaves”, curated by Efisio Carbone. A selection of works by one of the leading figures in Italian Fiber Art, including tapestries and optical textiles created with Sardinian artisans.
Cittadella dei Musei
Visit the National Archaeological Museum with finds from Prehistory to the Middle Ages; the Art Gallery with magnificent retables; the Museum of Siamese Art “Stefano Cardu”; the Clemente Susini Anatomical Wax Collection; and the Luigi Cocco ethnographic collection with over two thousand objects of Sardinian folk culture.
Palazzo Regio
Once home to viceroys and, for a short time, the royal Savoy family. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–18:30.
Cathedral Bell Tower of Santa Maria
An unmissable panoramic viewpoint in Castello district. Open Monday to Saturday, 10:30–16:00 or by booking (+39 070 663837 / +39 350 0642225).
Museum of Sant’Eulalia (Marina district)
A fascinating complex including three historic churches, precious artworks and an underground archaeological area that tells the city’s story.
Tuvixeddu Necropolis
The largest Punic necropolis in the Mediterranean, a place of extraordinary archaeological value.
Castle of San Michele
A medieval gem on the hilltop, with stunning views over the city. Open 10:00–18:00, closed Mondays.
Other monuments
The Roman Amphitheatre, the Cave of the Viper, the Covered Walkway, and the Crypt of Santa Restituta – open daily.
Railway Museum
Located by the train station, with precious testimonies of Sardinian rail history from the 19th century to today. Open Saturday 09:00–12:00.
Museo Contus de Arrejolas
Dedicated to the ancient craft of decorated tiles and the history of Castello. Open Saturday and Sunday, 10:30–13:00; weekdays by appointment (+39 347 8538959).
Coccodè APS Space
A magical place created by Roberto Caredda through art recycling. Visit by appointment (+39 338 7038332).
Fontana Doll and Toy Collection (San Benedetto)
A fascinating journey into childhood memories and world traditions. Visits by booking (effe.anton@gmail.com – +39 347 4187515).
Places of worship
From the Cathedral of Santa Maria to the Basilica of San Saturnino, from Nostra Signora di Bonaria to the baroque Church of San Michele – treasures of faith and history.
War Hospital Caves of the Italian Red Cross
Located in Viale Merello, near the Cappuccini Garden. Open Saturday mornings by reservation (070 272336 – cagliari@cri.it).
Molentargius-Saline Regional Park
A natural reserve with flamingos, salt pans and historical buildings, ideal for walking, cycling or guided tours.
Saline Conti Vecchi
Guided tours on foot or by train through saltworks, archives and “white gold” landscapes.
UniCa – Botanical Garden HBK
A paradise of Mediterranean and exotic plants. Along with other gardens, it offers peaceful outdoor escapes.
The best way to enjoy Cagliari is with a local guide: tours are available every weekend to discover the city’s main attractions.
The sea is one of the city’s highlights: Poetto beach and Calamosca invite you to swim, sunbathe or enjoy water sports such as windsurfing, SUP, kayaking and canoeing. Marina Piccola, Su Siccu promenade and Sant’Elia waterfront offer relaxing walks with sea views.
