This exhibition showcases the exploration of three-dimensional visual arts by a group of artists with diverse geographic backgrounds, training and experiences. Their works engage with the common areas of T Hotel – the lobby, corridors and outdoor terrace – spaces defined by anthropologist Marc Augé as “non-places”.
Through their artworks, Silvia Bellu, Andrea Forges Davanzati, Viviana Fernandez Nicola, Paulina Herrera Letelier, Maria Grazia Medda and Matteo Pugliese establish a dialogue with these transitional areas. By reinterpreting the environment, they create a new relationship between the works, the audience and the space.
The concept of "supermodernity" – an evolution of postmodernism – also comes into play, as artists adapt to a space that lacks a fixed identity, where people pass through without forming lasting connections or leaving traces.
Thanks to interaction with the art, the hotel’s communal zones are transformed from “non-places” into spaces strongly defined by the artists’ individual research paths. The works invite viewers to forge new connections.
The artists seek to subvert the notion of transit by presenting pieces that are emblematic of their artistic journeys – deeply distinctive and personal – through the use of varied materials such as bronze, metal, wood, glass, paper, cement and fibre. Their techniques often push materials to the fullest expression of their properties, or drive them toward unexpected outcomes.
