Yuja Wang and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra: the stars of world music come to Cagliari!

On 3 September, the Cagliari Opera House will host an evening destined to become part of its musical history. As part of the MCO & Yuja: American Dreams tour, world-renowned pianist Yuja Wang will take to the stage with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the ensemble founded in 1997 by Claudio Abbado.

The programme ranges from the American sounds of Copland and Barber to the French lyricism of Dukas and the sheer virtuosity of Prokofiev.

Taking the podium in the first half will be American conductor Teddy Abrams, who, together with Yuja Wang, won a Grammy Award in 2024.

In the second half of the evening, Yuja Wang will give the audience a performance of extraordinary emotional intensity, taking on the dual role of pianist and conductor for Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2, one of the most demanding works in the entire piano repertoire.
